Intermitent wipers are working intermitently(E420 95)

When my intermittent wipers are switch on, the time between the wipe varies from 1 second to 10 seconds, to not wiping altogether. Has anyone heard of this? This just started about a week ago, and NO my wipers are not "rain sensing" or "variable intermitent".

Incredibly informative site. What a find!! Wish it hasnt taken me this long.
