Fastlane version for Toyota?

I am trying to find parts for someone I know.... she has a 1998 toyota corolla, and the door check strap on the driver side is bad. Anyone know where I can find this piece? sorry for being a non-mercedes question.

There are only a few independents that sell very specific OEM parts like this. The supply lines are more "locked down" for Toyota than for German makes. The savings can be substantial.

Try:

http://www.toyotapartstore.com/
http://www.toyotapartspro.com/
http://www.taprecycling.com/ (they sell new parts too)

What csnow said. I've had good experience with www.partznet.com (Conicelli Toyota in PA) for Mitsubishi and Nissan parts. Nice interface once you get to the parts list with some parts explosions.

Take a look at FastLane Snib. They have Toyota parts too. I've bought parts for our Toyota P/U as well as the MGB.

Dealer or junkyard, Toyota interior parts are tough.

www.irontoad.com
call them up if you don't see something listed.

thanks guys... I checked out all those sites and still can't find the part. Its the check strap for the driver's door... should I just ask toyota? I don't think I would want a used part.. neither would she. She pampers her car.. original owner.

did u try calling them up or did u just do a search on the website ? most of the times they don't have all the items listed.

Snibble,

go to partznet.com -> Toyota -> parts catalog -> 1998/Corolla/Collision/search -> Corolla sedan -> Front door -> Lock and hardware -> Door check -> view illus. I'm guessing it's item 18. Or does she need a rear door check?

Fastlane should be that clear.

sixto...

Thanks, but I don't see it with what you wrote. After going to "front door"... I see "lock", "striker" and "window regulator". I don't see the door check anywhere neither pictures of anything. :(

Did you go 'mechanical' or 'collision?'

That's the one stupid thing with that catalog format - body parts are mostly in collision.

Ahhh.. found it under "collision" as you said. I thought it would fall under mechanical... and collision would be like a fender or the door shell, etc. It is a stupid system of listing parts... thanks a lot for helping the part I was looking after.

P.S. Its amazing that the door check for a Toyota corolla is $52... while the same part for a w126 Mercedes is only $20. Go figure

Toyota parts are expensive. It's those locked down supply lines.

Parts network for German makes has more 'leakage'. Hundreds of non-dealers sell what would normally be 'dealer only' parts for other makes. This is one of the good things about owning German cars.
