560 sel hesitation
hello ladies and gents.. I have seemed to have found the root of my problem.. the plug caps! the cyl shaped apparatus on the end of the spark plug wire that connects to the spark plug.. I used electronic component cleaner and cleaned them all thorougly.. the car misses no more and hesitates rarely I have all but forgotten it had a problem at times..thanks to the thread from forum user/560 guru thomas godley who has owned several 560 engined mercedes and wihtout him I would have been little more than guessing what the problem might be.. in short he stated that all of his 560 engined cars has the same problem at one time or another..and these caps were always the culprit.. Ill get new wires and caps and report back as to the results .. I am very optimistic that they will solve my problem.. the chk engine lite comes on and stays on for approx 3 min every other day.. but I think thats because unburned fuel is getting into the exhaust.. my gas milage is not the best at the moment either..again I think new wires/plugs will solve the problem
Thanks Demeterial :p |

Hello everyone just a bit more information to add.. I have replaced plugs wires and cap ad rotor.. to no avail still idling rough runs horrible until 40mph and then no problem.. took to a mech states that I need a new fuel distributor. found a second hand one for 100.00 bucks..but an intersting thing is that when I I have the car running I remove the plug wires one at a time from the engine on the drivers side and I get no spark see no spark.. even from the cap.. but on the passenger side if I remove a plug wire.. I the engine all but dies.. I suspect a bad coil..when I pulled the old spark plugs the ones on the passegner side were all but fouled and one of the four was fouled..the ones from the drivers side were fine.. I replaced them anyway..I feel its getting fuel though.. only because when I get past 3rd gear the car runs fine not lightning quick but quicker than my 300sdl.. the over voltage relay was very hot..I removed it while the car was running and there was no change.. I plugged it back in and there was a momentary surge in the engine speed but immediately returned to the doggy state Im accustomed to.. any Ideas
