551 option code
 

My 85 38SE has an option code of 551 on the metal plate which I looked up to be anti-theft. What exactly does this mean?
Also, there is a 702G code which I take to be the paint code but I don't find that. Any help? Thanks, Jim

551 means you have an anti-theft system. It's activated by the front door key locks. Not sure if the trunk lock activates the alarm. Opening the hood, trunk or any door trips the alarm. The brain box is in the passenger footwell.

702 is smoke silver metallic. G means Glasurit brand paint.

Thanks for the info. My anti-theft doesn't work then. I looked in the passenger well and found a metal box that says Jetronic, Bosch 0 280 8000 038
002 545 0032.

Jetronic? That's probably for the fuel injection. The alarm box is marked Becker I believe. You pull out the passenger carpeting, pull out the slanted plastic board (I think there's a nut along the bottom) and the box is maybe a third of the way to the transmission hump. It has two connectors with a dozen or so pins each.
