95 E320 Making a noise at start up

Hello Everyone:

Just bought a 95 E320 with 119,xxx miles. It makes a noise at start up when it is cold. It sounds like some sort of pump is running. The noise stops after about 2 or 3 minutes. The noise sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine, around where the fan is. By the time I take it to my mechanic, the noise will be gone. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jimmy

Could be the oil flowing through the oil tube that was too small for this and the '94 E class too. But your in LA. This noise usually happens when it is on the cool side overnight. No harm done from this either.

The oil tubes are an issue on M119 V8's, not M104's.

The cold oil whine noise from 104 eng is the oil pump .
There is a factory internal mod to change the gears to a 4mm smaller size, but not really needed.. ie. no harm done.
..This is a different noise than from the Air-Pump , and AP
is prolly your noise , as it is coming from the front.
OP can be heard from cabin.
