W210 - E320 Shifter Knob Removal
 

Hello All,

Just purchased a beautiful burled walnut I want to install.

How do I remove my original shift knob... tried pushing down in Neutral... turning clamp ring... etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I want to change mine, too. How did you do it?

If you can do it by hand, turn the cylinder (the black round piece at the bottom of the shifter knob) counter clock-wise. It will separate from the knob and then just pull it off.

Mine was difficult by hand so I wrapped a towel around the cylinder for padding and applied light pressure with a vice grip turning counter clock-wise and it came right off undamaged.
