I was wondering how to install the headlight door on my 87sel. I noticed that the headlight wipers are in the way. Do the headlight door just snap off from the light assembly or does it require that the headlight assembly be unassembled. Is it an easy install?

You've got to pop out the turn signal lens assy, remove the wiper and trim panel. Remove the retainer screws for the lense and then release (gently) the clips at the top and bottom of the plastic. installation is the reverse of removal. Be careful, it's an '87 and that plastic is probably somewhat brittle

Same procedure applys. Seems that a lot of the late moden Benz's are built with a similar design. No big suprize.

A rock just kicked up and smashed my glass infront of my passenger headlight. I think this is called the "headlight door". I am confused , how do you install a new one? How do you "pop" the assembly out with the light wipers in the way?
