Moving on up to CT, need recommendations

In 9 days we are moving back to CT after an absence of 13 years. We have bought a home in Vernon, where I grew up. I would like a heads up on some good "indy" shops in the area. I once posted a similar question on the MBCA message board and got a recommendation for a place called "Peoples Garage" in Elington. Anyone heard of this place. Anyone in the area of Vernon?

You should do a search in "General Discussion, Good MB Shops", as I recall about a year ago I posted an inquiry about good CT shops and got a few responses. One place was in Glastonbury, the other down by the shore in Branford. I took my '92 MB to the place in Glastonbury, but was not impressed with their quote for replacement of the serpentine belt tensioner, (or customer relations for that matter), so I drove the car home, squeal and all, and did it myself over a weekend. Since then, I either do the repair myself or schelp up to Plainville, NH where I have a guy who's been the main caretaker of my '62 Finny for years and who's worked miracles on our 300TE and any other foreign make for half the New England cost per hour. Welcome back to CT though.

FF, does your guy in NH do AC?

Yes, he does. He did the conversion in my 300TE to R134, and it's perfect, though I am sure he will repair existing systems if you prefer. Here is his info: Greg Wehde, Sports & Vintage Car, 1271 Route 12A, Plainfield, NH. (603) 675-2623. Give him a call, and tell him I sent you, (he'll know me by my MB's). You won't be disapponted!

I'll have to get the name of the shope but their is a decent one in New Haven. Their is also one in Milford that seems to do a lot with W124s and W126s.

The one in New Haven I'm going to have to look up, but in Milford I just got a line on a place that sounds pretty good. It's in the back of Chip's on Bridgeport Ave. Right off of exit 35 on I-95 North. I guess the mechanic really knows his Mercedes and has been working on them for a long time. Chip's is also a nice dealer btw, they deal with a lot of 5-10 year old MB, BMW, Volvo, Audi's, etc.
