Benzo dying out

I have a 300e 160k miles. I just replaced the alternator. I've just replaced the alternator, but for some reason it doesn't seem to charge the battery. When I jump start it, it starts fine, but once i unhook the jumper cables, I can see the head lights start to dim. Question: Once it's started, shouldnt the alternator keep all lights bright even if the battery is dead? Please help!! Thank you

not necessarily, the battery could be too far gone, and then the alternator cant do anything for it. If the batterys old, replace it too.

The alternator you repalced.. was it not supplying enough voltage or supplying over voltage?

It may have damaged your battery. Have it tested.

I didnt realize that when I picked my alternator up from the shop from being rebuilt, they didn't replace the voltage regulator. Once thats replaced hopefully that will solve my problem. now if I can figure out why the sunroof no longer works, I replaced the fuse but dont get anything when I attempt to open it.

Get under your car and pull the voltage regulator out of the alternator and inspect. You need a short shaft philips head to remove it. Location is the rear of the alt.

Go to partsshop on this site to see a picture.

What lights are lit up on your dash? ABS will not function without enough voltage.

Good luck.
