engine oil on door hinges?

Do engine oils damage paint?

Do engine oils lubricate door hinges well?

What you need to lube the door hinges is a grease gun and needle tip fittong. In the middle of each hinge is a small dimple, or depression. That is where you lube the hinges. Just stick the needle tip tight into the dimple and pump the handle a couple three times.

I use spray lithium grease on hinges. Works well. Does not damage paint, but neither does motor oil.

The problem with motor oil is that it is too thin to stay put on hinges for long.

I like Mike's method too. I may try that next time...

Mike, Mike, Mike,

You are remembering a time when MB was not influenced by how cheap can Detroit make this thing. His car may not have these lube points. They are disappearing from the newer MBs. Your car has a beautiful C shaped chrome trim on the latch on the door which is fastened by two chrome screws. That was replaced with a black piece of plastic and two screws. Then they took away one of the screws. They may not even have the plastic piece anymore. I'll have to look.:D
