Lubro Moly crankcase products

Y'all-

My local (non-dealer) MB parts guy began carrying the LM crankcase lubricants recently. Has always carried Jet-tronic and other LM products.

He says a number of his customers have switched over and claim to have noticed significant improvements in; fuel efficiency, engine sound, acceleration.

Has anyone here used this particular LM product line and, if yes, what have been your experiences?

Thanks,

I have. No problems. Not sure if the fuel system cleaners are any better than Techron. The oil consumption additive seems to work well -- I have used it with Shell Rotella 10-40. The motor oil showed no difference -- tested with my '92 which has occasional valve noise at cold startup. The electronic spray works and has much less odor than the radio shack stuff. The tacky lube spray is magical!

I would walk.... no no, not walk, RUN away from anyone claiming better fuel efficiency, engine sound and better acceleration, all this from a lubricant. I am surprized he did not also mentioned it also grows lost hairs.
I am not saying the product is bad, but trying to sell and engine oil based on the above arguements does not make me very receptive.
What are the specs?, API rating?, what kind of additive package does it contain?, is it an approved OEM product?

If their that good why doesn't Mercedes recomend you use them in their cars? Do you think there is a product out their they have not tested in their cars? I don't like snake oil's I tried injector cleaner once in my Camry, it smelled like diesel! Never noticed a difference. Here is what MB recomends: Only Mobil One in the crankcase, and high octane gas in the tank. I know fuel injector cleaner screwed up the egr in my friends S600. It ran fine, till the stupid dealer dumped some in the tank. $600 later everything was better.

Lubro Moly

Actually the parts guy's making none of those claims. He said some of his customers reported those experiences. He shrugged and said, "I don't know" when asked if that made a lot of sense to him. I've used Jetron in my 6.3 (PO and both shops who've done work on the beast recommend that product) so am somewhat positively disposed to these products. Lubro Moly is from a German manufacturer. One of many sites with information: http://www.forparts.com/fluids.htm

I'm not shilling for these cats, but here's a product run down on the motor oils: http://www.etyproducts.com/all%20about%20motor%20oil.htm

Believe me, I have no interest in opennig up the "which oil is better?" discussion. I was just curious if anyone else had decided to use the motor oil.

Ciao for now

you are correct to point out Mercedes does not recomend much of anyting, but I do think Techron is on their list for injector cleaning.
