Cruise control amplifer
... has anything with the car not starting? What else does it run? There's nothing on the archives relating to to it othere than with cruise control issues.
|
I was under the impression that the unit can be completely dead and you'd still be able to operate the car.
|
Both of our 190E 2.3's and the 16V all had dead amps and they ran for years in that condition.
|
M104's don't have a cruise control amplifier.
It is part of your throttle actuator. A faulty stop lamp switch can also render cruise control ineffective, although I have no idea why. |

Electronic Engine Controls 101. ;) All electronics have a back-up device for safety reasons. The back-up device for the cruise control happens to be the brake switch. ;) |
Thanks for the info. As my other posts indicate, car started with a ovp change , tada... still wonder why the heck this cruise control amplifer (or that other long abbreviation it was called) would have given me those ticking noises!! ovp doesn't equal cruise control
