Trunk Insulation
 

I purchased a 89 300E a number of months ago and was surprised that the inside of my trunk is unfinished. It is finished in a gun metal gray paint with no material at all. Was this the way the factory sold the car or am I missing a formed piece of insulation. Any part number for that ?

There should be formed plastic walls with a pebble finish on the fender sides and where the tail lights are; a snap fastened carpet covering the fuel tank and a plastic cover over the spare tire.

Nothing on the back of the trunk lid?

There no insulation on a 126 and all three of mine have small raised dents from closing the trunk on a too tall object . My Euro model has a large removeable reflector on the under side of the trunk lid that protects it in that area. I think some nice dense foam would help a lot.........
