Engine Shocks
I noticed one of the engine shocks on my 84 500 SEL is leaking.
How important are they? What would be the simptoms if they fail? Are they really necessary? I don't mind the $100 or so for the pair, but don't want to spend the money if I won't be able to tell the difference. Thanks

Replacement
Do you ever notice, what seems to be, a rough idle, or the engine rocking? If you do, the shocks have been known to steady the engine and eliminate the rocking.

Are we talking about engine mounts, or is there actually some sort of lateral shock absorber?

These are small shocks connected between the engine and the frame.
The idle is very smooth and the engine doesn't rock at all. If that is their only duty, then I guess I don't need them at this time. Thanks for the reply.
