I am not sure about how the ASD works. On this side of the pond the 16V was only legally available in 1986 and 1987.

Are you sure the ASD is tied to the SLS system? That would seem strange to me. In the specification on your web page it calls the system "electric" slip control. Are you sure it doesn't just cut power to the motor when it senses wheel spin?

Unfortunately the prior owner of my 16v removed the SLS system and went with cheap shocks and the car rides like a truck, but handles well. From what I have read, when the SLs system is maintained and works, it is a great system.

If you elect to remove it, buy some quality shocks.
