OBD2 connector on my MB CLK 320 - 1998 ?

I have a MB CLK 320 cab - 1998.
Does anyone know if there is an OBD2 connector on that model and if so, where is it located. I have looked under the instrument panel on the drivers side but have not found anything.

The OBDII Connector should be where you looked. The plug is under a flap (a cover) that you must pull down to have the connector displayed.

Mind you this is simply the "generic" OBD connector. The MB "Star" (?) diagnostics plug is under the hood.

Good luck!

Hi
I have found the flap and it looked just as if the connector should be there, but it is all empty inside. I have even removed the whole cover under the instrument panel. Could not find any connector. Since it is a european sold car it may be missing, since europe did not adopt to the OBD2 standard until 2000 I think, but I had hoped to find a OBD2 connector anyway.

Do you know about the other "STAR" diagnostig plug ?
Is it the 38-pin connector/plug that most mercedes have ?
Exactly where is it located under the hood ?
Is there any way to get information out of that plug without the "StAR" software ?

Awww... of course. A European model just may not have the Generic OBDII connector. It was mandated in 96 (OBD II) for every car in the US to be sold with the adapter to be within 3 feet of the driver's seat (if I recall correctly).
So that makes sense you wouldn't have one. My mother used to have an 01 CLK and it is there (US spec car). Your car, presumably, does not have one.

The MB Star system access (38 pin) is found under the hood where the car's ECU's are. This connector is in the rear-passenger (LHD models) corner of the engine compartment. If you're looking into the engine bay from the front of the car, then it's in the rear left corner. It is, however, covered by a plastic panel.

CYA!
