Everyone Please - 2: Headlights
This thread concerns:
2: Head Lights I urge all members to help with any supporting info/pics or corrections to help create a proper and accurate reference. I must also thank so many members for all the effort that was put into this subject and helped me compile this thread. I believe that most of us like the E-Code lights and particularly the 500e/e500 lights. This thread will only cover the actual Head Lights and not the bulbs, connectors, wipers, panels, vacuum adjust, installation instructions, Xenon, etc... That will have to come in an upcoming thread. I believe that HELLA is the only manufacturer of these lights and here are the part numbers: Mercedes OEM Up to 1993 (500e) Part Numbers: Left: 124 820 43 59 Right: 124 820 44 59 HELLA Up to 1993 (500e) Part Numbers: Left : ? 500E/E500 head lights
How about part numbers for just the lenses? This is for those who already have "Euro" headlights and wish to gain driving lights in place of the fog lights. It is also based on the assumption that the Hella 500E and E500 lenses will fit the standard "Euro" headlights (often Bosch) and that the reflector in the fog light section is suitable for use with the driving light lens. Can anyone verify this?
If all the above is OK, then how about part numbers for 500E and E500 lenses for those of us with the steering wheel on the right side (as opposed to the wrong side :D)? I know that there were no right hand drive 500E/E500, but I also know that some are registered for use on the roads in the UK. These would require lenses that give the opposite low beam cut-off (ie. \_\_ for right hand drive as opposed to _/_/ for left hand drive). Can any 500E/E500 owners in the UK verify this? If you are wondering where all this is leading, it is because I would seriously consider buying just the 500E lenses for my 300TE if I knew for a fact that they are available for right hand drive and that they would fit and work with my existing Bosch housings and reflectors (our Aussie 124s got right hand drive Bosch "Euro" lights as standard). Lino's part number list would therefore read: Left hand drive: 500E headlight - left 500E headlight - right 500E headlight lens - left 500E headlight lens - right E500 headlight - left E500 headlight - right E500 headlight lens - left E500 headlight lens - right Right hand drive: 500E headlight - left 500E headlight - right 500E headlight lens - left 500E headlight lens - right E500 headlight - left E500 headlight - right E500 headlight lens - left E500 headlight lens - right |

Someone please help verify the part numbers. I also don't know about fitment on anything other than 500e and e500 assemblies. Thank You |
