Where's the fuel pump relay on 88 190e?
I can't find the fuel pump relay on my 1988 2.3l 190e. I have a Haynes manual , but where the book says it is supose to be (in the additional relay holder) there is nothing there. not even a socket to hold the relay. I changed the fuel pump to see if that was the problem but I'm still not getting any thing out of the pump. Can anyone help me?

Don't know for sure about the 190, but on the 300E it's behind the battery.

Like the 300E the fuel pump relay is in the area of the right side hood hinge, behind the battery and posibly behind a thin plastic barrier (which must be removed). It sits next to the Klima relay which is identical in shape. The FP relay will have an rpm writen on it and it won't say klima.

When you find it, jump pins 7 & 8 at the FP relay block to emulate relay on state.

Thanks, found it and got the fuel pump woking. This car has been sitting for about 1 year with out being started. Other than draining the fuel tank , is there anything else I should do to help get this thing started?

Dry start after long rest is hard on motor.
If possible, best to squirt an ounce of motor oil into each cylinder, and spin it with the spark plugs out until oil pressure is attained. |
