Am now working to repair my 400E and am removing the headliner to do roof work. After pulling the front overhead light and switch panel off, there is a bundle of a few wires into a plastic housing, wrapped in foam and pushed aside. Not used. What is this for?

Tobias,
Maybe it's for integrated phone which is optional on W124?? As I remember it right, the phone control bottons panel mounts just below overhead light control.... AKRY,
Thanks for the post. As I was removing the seats today I noticed the cable going into the drivers armrest and it also had the same type of insulating cover and plug. Didn't know this feature was on this car but now I know it does. Wonder why the former owner had a Nokia setup wired in if the car was factory prewired. Basically because he was too cheap to get the MB phone. Those wires are effectivelly for the phone You might actually find a third one for the hand free mike..Tits,Ain't it?
