300TE: symptoms indicate possible head gasket leak, opinions please?

92 300TE- 154K miles. Just flushed the coolant, some white oily residue but basically coolant was clean. Now there appears to be a little white residue on the coolant cap.

No overheating, no milky oil, what do you think?

Is this something I can just not worry about until other symptoms appear?

Thanks for the help!

What type of coolant (i.e., what color) are you running in the coolant system?

it was the green stuff when I bought it, I flushed it out and used the Mercedes antifreeze. A little white film has settled over the top of the old coolant as it sits in bottles to be disposed of.

It seems like a very minute amount of white stuff, Im hoping that maybe it is from something else.

Without analysis it's difficult to determine. That stuff could be deposits from aluminum corrosion, hard water, or silicates (water glass) precipitated from the antifreeze.
