300TE: symptoms indicate possible head gasket leak, opinions please?
92 300TE- 154K miles. Just flushed the coolant, some white oily residue but basically coolant was clean. Now there appears to be a little white residue on the coolant cap.
No overheating, no milky oil, what do you think? Is this something I can just not worry about until other symptoms appear? Thanks for the help! -bg |

What type of coolant (i.e., what color) are you running in the coolant system?

it was the green stuff when I bought it, I flushed it out and used the Mercedes antifreeze. A little white film has settled over the top of the old coolant as it sits in bottles to be disposed of.
It seems like a very minute amount of white stuff, Im hoping that maybe it is from something else. |

Without analysis it's difficult to determine. That stuff could be deposits from aluminum corrosion, hard water, or silicates (water glass) precipitated from the antifreeze.
