107 Can’t make it to the caster setting?
I had my car aligned after A-arm bushings and ball joint and the tech couldn’t hit the caster spec. The caster spec he shows are 9.8 to 10.2 Deg. He could only hit 4.4. What could cause this? Are the settings correct? I have 16” wheels and AMG changed the springs but I can’t imagine it affecting the caster. Any help?

The problem is he is using the wrong specs. The original 114/115 suspension put into early 107s was modified in 1986. The original front end which you would have in a 1985 500SL has specs somewhere between 3 and 4 degrees.
The 1986 on 107.048 has the 9-10 deg spec.

Thanks Steve!
I asked the tech what the problem could be and he said the specs are wrong. Should I have it re-adjusted?
But if the difference is so big, wouldn't the 107.048 track better at speed? (I am just curios).

I'm sure they didn't change it all around for nothing. The suspension on the 107.048 is considerably different to get those caster settings.
If the car tracks straight, it will be all right with the high caster. The camber and toe are similar enough in both cars that they should be all right.
