95 E320 engine stumbling

This smooth as silk '95 E320 engine with 112,000 miles is
stumbling while accelerating under heavy load/heavy foot but will not stall.
This will happen when pulling away from a stop, when accelerating hard from a steady pedal (at any speed) or just idling at a traffic light. However, this is much more pronounced and frequent when the a/c compressor is engaged (load related?)and idling at a traffic light in drive. Then, the engine will try to stall but will catch itself and resume a smooth idle-repeating this cycle as often as every 3-5 seconds until I shut the a/c off (then
the frequency is less) or until the car is crusing at a steady speed. On one occasion, under very heavy acceleration with a/c on, the engine did backfire-once. Check engine light is NOT on. Fuel consumption is still 20 city and 25.5 highway! I purchased the car with 22,000 miles and vehicle has been well serviced and is up to date.
Having read other related threads, the engine harness has
not been replaced (according to MB NetStar print-out I have).
Could it be the 3 coil connectors as I have read here? ( And where are they located?) or is this a vacuum
problem?

<Could it be the 3 coil connectors as I have read here?>

I would start there .. they are under each coil. Change them
[ cheap] and check the plugs at the same time.
PS -[ that engine like Bosch F8DC4 Copper core ONLY, and again ,cheap].

Also, i would look and see if the OVP is the original.. if so [ made by Siemens], change it to the new replacement.
Do an OVP search for part #s..

Arthur, thanks for the quick response.
I was searching through the parts cartalogue here and came
up with part # f1050-100458..."ignition wire end plug"... "90 degree connector at coil"... need 3 @ $12.00 each.
Is this AKA coil connector? Just need clarification before ordering
the parts. Thank you, Allen.
