srs light

I have a 95 s500 coupe, the srs light came on can anyone tell me what this light means and how to get rid of the light.

It means there is a fault in the supplemental restraint system and it has shut down.

You must read the code with a scanner and if intermmittant it can be cleared till the next time. There will be a fault code stored telling what the controller thought was wrong.

Can you tell a newbie like me how to read the code with a scanner? Where can I buy a scanner and what price can I expect to pay?

I am losing track of all the scan options, especially in the low price range. It is my guess that you might get one used for a thousand or 1500 bucks on ebay.

Then go to the diagnostic manual at www.startekinfo.com for 18 bucks a day and its all spelled out.
