'86 300e fuel miture adjustment
i've searched the forums and am aware of using the diagnostics for the fuel mixture adjustment. but, can't it be done the old fashion way? with a probe in the exhaust pipe and adjust the 3mm to get a proper CO %?

I don't know about yours but my 190 with the 2.3 8 valve can be done in less than 5 minutes with an allen key and a VOM!

So what's the "proper" CO level? You have a certain CO level in the native exhaust, which is then reduced in the converter and the converter reduction is a function of converter age and temperature.
You can't use the old CO method to adjust the mixture on emission controlled engines. Mercedes provided us with a nice method for adjusting the basic mixture - setting the "duty cycle". Use it. Duke |
