Help: Special Pipe cutting tool for mating aluminum pipes at angles

Hey Guys,

Im trying to mate aluminum tubing at angles. As in trying to mate a round pipe to a cylinder, similar to how people make roll cages, etc. After I get the surfaces close, I am going to weld them together.

I know there is a tool out there, but I do not know the name. Any pictures or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Austin

Back in the days I assisted at a welding shop they only used templates. Simple wrap arounds that had the contoured arc of the piece it was to be mated to. Usually made of heavy weight paper or felt paper. You simply trace the template then cut using a torch or band saw/jig saw.

tubing notcher

I am using 2.5 OD 1/8 inch wall Aluminum 6061t6 tubing.

I was using a holesaw in the mill, but it bound up and broke some teeth off.

I am looking online and there is a tool called a tubing notcher or pipe notcher.
