97 E420 Tune Up Help

I have a 97 E420 in dire need of a tune up. Ive had the car like 55K and havent had a full blown tune up since Ive owned it. BTW the car has about 144K on the clock. What I need help with is the parts to get a nice tune up. Ill need plugs, plug wires, but after that Im not sure. Does my car have the cap and rotor?? Please let me know what Ill need and also a good place to get them from. The higher performance parts the better. Thanks guys

Spark Plugs (there are no spark plug wires/rotor/cap on this car)
air filter
oil/oil filter
pollen filter
fuel filter
brake fluid
coolant
rear differential fluid
serpentine belt (if needed upon inspection)

There is a debate over whether to change the transmission fluid. Personally, I have it done very 60K including filter and using original MB transmission fluid.

You should be able to do most of it yourself.

Good luck.

You may add these to your tune up items.
1. Replace the fuel filters (2)
2. Definitely change the engine oil.
3. Renew the coolant
4. Check the brakes. You may need a new disc pads and rotors (especially the front wheel).
5. Repack the wheel bearings with grease.
6. Flush the radiator.
7. If the wheel alignment is not done yet, or if it gives you a sign of shaky driving and uneven tire wear, then it is time for a wheel alingment.
8. Check the battery voltage and load test it. Also, check the water level even it is a maintenance free battery, they do need battery water refil, when it is below the normal level.

Nope, no plug wires/cap/rotor.

The engine uses individual coil packs on top of each spark plug.

Is this an M119 engine?

Might want to check the timing chain for stretch. Check the camshaft oilers, camshafts/rockers. If you ketch it it early, you can replace just the bad rocker arms. Timing chains and guides go without saying.
