Tach woes
Well, I tried the Ebay tach yesterday with no luck. It just pegs the meter as soon as I apply power. I did find a pot inside so I beleive that it can be calibrated for my six.
I guess it might be time to call Palo Alto to see what they say. See it here Michael

What type of tach is it and what kind of sender?

It's an electronic tach and I was told it was out of a early '70s Mercedes. No sender as it's for a gas engine. It has a red lead labeled + and a green one labeled TD1 or something like that.
It's labeled on the can as being for an 8 cylinder engine but I think I can fine tune it for my six with the pot, if only it didn't slam into the peg at the top end. Michael

There's more than one way to set up a tach. Aftermarket units run off the alternator. I think standard MB tachs hook to the multi-plug female adapter that runs diagnostic tools. And then it might attach to the distributor ignition system too.
Am thinking about one for the 240D, thats why I asked. Have seen a few tachs on ebay, but they never include the complete wiring system. |
