I decided to choose the baby

The time has come that my project has to be pushed aside by the brand spankin' new baby. I hadn't been working very quickly on it anyway, and besides, every man I know has a car for which they get misty eyed and say "I wish I would have kept her".

You can check out the ad here.

You all have been very helpful everytime I needed advice for this car. Keep up the good work.

As a father of two young boys and owner of about 20 project mercedes I can state with authority that yeah, finding the time is rough. However, both you and your wife need to put days in the schedule for "grownup-only" activities. She gets a salon day w/o having to think about the kid. You get an afternooon with the wrenches.

You couldn't have a better car to drive a young family in terms of safety and security. That and it seems to look incredibly good. Just let the car sit in the driveway for three months and then spend a furious day working on it.

I've been struggling with the decision for months and you're exactly right. But, my main grown-up activity is golf and I spend as much time doing that as possible.

I look at it this way though. I am not going to force the sale of this car just to get it sold. If no one wants it at this price then I guess it is destined to stay and I can get it together as we go. I'd love to keep it, but it's a room and convenience type of thing. Maybe what I should really be looking for is a storage and shop spot locally.

What model baby did you get? The 2006 "oh she's so cute" or the 2006 " how can any human eat that much"? I warn you, emission controls on these early models are non-existent. If you can, keep the car. Put a tarp on it. You'll have plenty of time to spend on it. You won't have as long of continous stretches but you will need the distraction.

Well... I don't envy you in your position.

However, the main reason for my post is the gas leak that you mentioned on the fuel lines. A while back, I did a search on recalls for the 108's. One of the two (I think it was two) listed, was a recall for fuel lines.
You never know...yours could've been missed, and you can get yourself some new ones at no charge!

Good luck with both of your endeavours!

Nah, my wife wanted to go cheap so we got the "why in the hell don't you ever sleep" model.

Actually we are extremely lucky he has been a great baby thus far.

I've got a suspision that any leakage is due to their advanced age and lack of care by the P.O. But it is certainly worth checking out.

I do have one question though.... In replacing the underhood fule lines, why would it be necessary to go with OEM replacements? I'm talking about the small fuel injection pieces and the short piece of hose that goes from the back end of the fuel rail to the metal tank return line.

I did the OEM replacement kit mostly because I didn't know any better at the time. I guess I thought there was some magic to using the precisely proper fuel line and clamps. Since then I have realized that any correct size fuel injection hose should suffice as well as any decent fuel injection-specific clamps. The kit was not all that expensive and it was very convenient not even needing to cut any hose bits.

We could possibly work something out if this was the best way to fix your car. I bet it's not though due to the mileage.

PM me if you want.

Now this is going to sound really lazy....

Anyone know what size of hose I need and how much? Fastlane has the injector hose kits for roughly $10 per injector (unless I am reading somthing wrong). I'd like to think I can do much better than that. I guess the best thing to do is take the offending lines off and match them at the store.

Any other suggestions?
