What kind of shoes are on your 6.9?

In my persisting search for appropriate 16" wheels and tires what type of 14" tires are you W116'ers using on your cars? There aren't a whole lot of 215/70-14 tires left on the market. Any reccomendations or warnings?

I used to have Fulda Carat Attiro in a 205/70 VR14 size. They seemed to grip well and ride quietly in the time that I had them.

I have tried different brands over the 10 years I have had my 6.9, but I come back to Michelin in 14s. I have X-ones on my bundts. I don't think they make that particular tire anymore. Long-wearing and straight-tracking they are. I had some uni-directional tires once and they seemed to pull to the right. Why that is I don't know, but it happened. A change back to omnidirectional solved it. It doesn't make sense. But that's how it was for me.

I bought a set of bundts with some cheapie tires that had a proper fit, but not a proper weight rating and they all failed with belt separations. Two tires failed in Wyoming while I was returning to Houston.

this was a bad thing. the belts separate and the insides try to come out forming a bulge. They make the car ride like you have a brick glued to the sidewall, the balance is so far off.

That's scary. Belt separation is not what anyone wants especially on a 4500lb car.

So you're running the Michelin X tires now?

I have the bundts with the Michelins in the garage.
The car has 16" Ronal r-9s on it right now. I bought some Kumho Ecsta Supra Verzetta Rambino Jr's awhile back. May have that name wrong.
I can't remember the sizes, but they're staggered.
They weren't on the car long enough for me to get a good feel for if they were good or not. Cheap enough to toss if they were crap, but they had big number on the weight rating, like 95 or so.
The car is at the shop.

I'll look at the invoice for the 16's if you are interested in the spec.

Were the Kumho Ecsta Supra Verzetta Rambino Jr's Pilates Zuffenhausen Bratwurst Fasterrosa 14" or 16" variety?

Sure I would be interested in the 16" tire type, spec, and width information in your staggered configuration.
