Question Pertronix ignitor I or II for the 1971 280se 3.5 (v8 -m116)

Hi guys I have read a lot on the conversion of the ignition on this forum to the PErtronix, like others I have chosen on the Pertronix because its all hidden inside the body of the distributor..but before buying this I see some others had probs with it and from what I was able to see the instructions seem poor

Anyway some info re the current setup..I have a 12v bosch gt40 coil, and use the two orig ballast resistors (blue and silver band)..

I was told (over the phone) I could not use the ignitor II because I had the Mercedes Benz solid core wires?? :?: I checked the wires going to the coil and ballast while thick I am sure they were not single core??? can anyone confirm that they have used the ignitor II #91885 on the m116? or should I just stick with the ignitor 1 #1885? cheers B-I
