1973 220D question
I have a 1973 220D and the previous owner swapped out the engine for a 240D (unknown year) and put in a manual trans. I know of someone selling a 1976 motor very cheap (auto trans went out so parted out car). Will this work in my cars? (I also have a 1974 240D auto) I was thinking it could be a spare if my other engines ever gave up for whatever reason. Is it bad if the engine sits for a long time out of the car?? Will the tranmissions both fit in the engine? I don't know much about swapping engines or mechanics but I do know how much parts cost.
Thanks in advance for the insight, Liz in Los Angeles |

Again, trans will interchange, with the usual caveats about changing the flex plate for the flywheel. Jim

thanks, I was also wondering if it is going to be a problem if the engine is just stored for (hopefully) years before I end up using it.
