I read in someones signature that if you can't fix it with a hammer, then it must be an electrical problem.

Being Irish, I'm partial to it anyway
But with all the prep work you put it, plus being a coupe (), just about any color you chose would have looked killer. Congrats & thanks for the great thread !

Sigh...

Well, if you've followed my other posts you know that my plate is fairly full right now, but guess what....
I was burning a terrific cigar tonight while thumbing through some back issues of Mercedes Enthusiast and came across good old paint code 419 icon gold. That got me thinking about old Wilma and then I made a decision I'm not going back on. Im going to dismantle her again and respray her in the original hue. while I love the "Kelly Green" paint she sports now I can't get past what a special color icon gold is.
I still have my fair share of mechanical work to do to make her perfect and my bodywork is solid so I won't have to do any of that this time around. Wilma is still semi taken apart so that won't be a biggie, and thank god... I haven't installed any of the rubber body or glass gaskets so I won't have to removed them!!

Overall, I think this is the right way to go for the old girl, and the paint I removed before making her green was a badly done shade of Icon anyways...

I may or may not sell my SD to cut it down to a pair of 114's for simplicities sake. I really love my 126 and would hate to see it go but these 114's are bloody addictive.

What's the consensus guys, have I finally turned into a complete nutter?

It makes me happy that you're painting it in Icon gold. If you lived in Texas, i'd give you 1/2 gallon of the stuff from when I painted the slc 5.0.

Nason calls it Iron gold but it's the same stuff.

My only advice is to practice had before shooting metallic. I've painted before but metallic requires a lot of concentration as you have to keep the same distance and the same speed in order to keep the flakes uniform.

Yep, my talent when it comes to metallic flake and spray guns tends to be a bit dodgy. Thankfully I have some practice panels. I'm excited to get moving on this.

Although I think it gives the car a Goldmember look, it isn't bad. It is a period-correct color! But you're asking us if you've turned into a complete nutter?

How would a two-tone look? Kelly Green and Gold?
