Classics *without* center console window switches?
I've been looking at 300ds and have decided that I really don't want another car with center console window switches. I have 'em on my Saab and, since I'm a coffee slosher by nature, I've ended up replacing the box more than once. Plus, my dog has an unnerving tendency to hit the buttons and try to make the leap for freedom.
I've been trying to find pix of interiors to see which cars I might look at from now on -- ones with side-door switches or manual windows -- but that's getting pretty laborious. Does someone here know off hand the models that I should now be keeping an eye open for? I sure would love something in the way of a diesel and of early 80s vintage (for the rust protection). Thoughts? Suggestions? |

Skippy: Thanks for that in the other thread. I think I'll look for a 240d. I read somewhere about them being a real hit among the "0 to 60 in seven minutes" crowd. Sounds good to me!

Who is post?
And why is he incarcerated?

I guess post whoring isn't as popular over here as on the other forum I frequent. "Free post" is kind of a short hand way of saying you know you didn't post anything really useful or meaningful and the main benefit was to raise your post count.

Buy one with crank windows maybe?

Get a cat and a coffee mug that don't leak? :)

Har!
Hand crank windows would be perfect. Any 80-85 more-or-less- rust-resistant classic-looking models with those? |
240 is about it. Many of them even had power windows.
Course, it's not hard to put manual windows in one, much harder to go the other direction. If one was sufficiently motivated a generic rocker switch could be mounted on the drivers door for power windows too. |
