78 450SL - How do I select Recirculate instead of Fresh Air?
 

I have the owners manual on CD and the diagram shows the 'Fresh air circulating air flap' with positions of 'A - Fresh air' and 'U - circulating air' (pg 2 of the attached pdf). However, I don't have any climate control button or such to select either Circulate or Fresh air?

This is all an inquiry due to mostly cold air blowing when I turn on the heat; worked fine the last 5 years I've had this car, but somethings up - just starting to trouble shoot.

Well, I guess I can't attached the pdf, file size is too large.

I don't believe that is an option. I'd suspect the thermostat or a plugged heater core.

Do you have the ACCII? If so, there is no "button" to select fresh vs recirculate. If you need to manually override, you can plug the 2 vacuum limes going to the recriculation flap with golf tees and zip tie the flap in the recirc position.

I agree with Tom though - the recirc flap is probably not the cause of your problem. What part of Chicago are you in? I'm out here in the west burbs.

no heat at all ?? If so probably heater control valve or tstat as mentioned, vacuum leak, line off ect??
