108/109 chrome trim rubber backing - source?

Hi guys, looking for the mid-panel chrome rubber backing for 108/109's. Classic center says this material is no longer available by the yard and can only be obtained by purchasing new chrome strips. My chrome's fine, but the rubber's getting only and cracked. Anybody have a source for this rubber backing? Thanks!

If you are looking to make new ones yourself, I believe McMasterCarr sells rubber sheeting.

It's not rubber,it's ABS plastic and it's moulded to fit around the edge of the trim. There two styles of trim too so your best bet is to check out the car wreckers for good used ones. ebay.de is a good place to look as the climate is kinder to plastics in Germany.

Have never ever seen the base rubber/plastic available separately, only installed as an integral component of the chrome moulding part that you replace as a unit.

Bwostosh, I've seen the repros on ebay, but am hesitant to buy without being able to check quality.

If you want it to look great then the only choice is to buy a new strip from Classic Center. Every other choice, no matter what others may say, will not hold up over time.
Good Luck

Maybe some of the "Back To Black" offered by Mothers would help?

Twin, Classic center wanted $750 for a complete set, so we're going to shoot for 'pretty good'.

JT, got some dye called "Showroom New". We'll see how it does. Thanks again, guys.

**** me sideways. I concur, 'pretty good' seems like a MUCH better financial alternative.
