W114 230/8 1971 carburator question

Hi all

I am considering a couple of options for my 230/8.
Overhaul of the carburators or purchasing a set of overhauled ones.

What is the chance of finding an overhauled set?
I would also be looking for a used set to overhaul myselves....
What about parts for this type of carburator? How available are they?

Reason for doing something is that I just want it to run perfect like new ;-)

If it was me,I'd update it to single point fuel injection.Better mileage and power. Most stores like Jegs and Summit Racing carry complete kit with computer.

Hi

Thanks for info, but I am quite keen on keeping the car in it's original configuration.

Really the fuel injection option is not a bad idea. Everything can be reversed and your fuel mileage will more then likely improve with a modern fuel injection setup.

I really need to sit down and figure out how this megasquirt stuff work.

What is the estimated cost of such a conversion?

You may want / need to start with a M130 motor.

OP wants original configuration , so I will answer his question:) Rebuild kits are available complete with everything you need. That said you have to start with good carbs to rebuild. Pleanty out there , just have to pick carefully. You can also have them rebuilt by many online sources.

once you get them rebuilt, put back on , metered and synchronized you will see what the other posters are talking about lol :)

I agree. Find a decent carb and rebuild the carb!
