1971 W114 230/8 back on road
Hello everyone!
I just recently finished putting my 1971 230 on road and just to share with everyone. I inherit this car from my grand pa, the car was wrapped with plastic about 10 years ago, and just a month ago without taking the engine apart the engine starts like miracle! My main repair were as below: 1. Major big clean up on fuel tank and seal up the rust hole 2. Carb rebuild 3. Replace shifter linkages 4. Change the 4 tires 5. Replace brake booster and Calipers repair The main reason to put this car on road is to remember my grand pa. Very very beautiful car and great fun to drive! |

That car is about as clean as they get and with a column shift manual! Your grandfather would be proud. Well done.

Nice car - a new exhaust too? It looks like you've had fun.

Thank you all!
Regarding the exhaust I just use can spray to cover up some rust. |

Looks nice. I'm wondering why your car came with the white steering wheel. My 114 has a white (or at least it was in 1971) interior, yet came with the black steering wheel.

The (Ivory) wheel was an option and on earlier W114's was available. On the second series W114's that was no longer available because of the different wheel design.

I've got an ivory wheel in one of my 280CE's. It could use some refurb.

Yes! Ivory steering wheel was optional, and it were very expensive. And those days column shift were more expensive coz is a 6 seaters.
