Had to do a few things around the house, went to Home Depot ended up with 10 bags of bark in the trunk, that and a full tank of gas got a 3" drop....

Hey KarlC,

All those bags in the trunk make your car look like one of those low-riders I used to see in east LA. Back in the day, before bagging cars that's actually how they used to lower them (cement blocks in the trunk).

ASIDE: someone in Laurel MD, is selling your exact car (rare bird in these parts; dc/Va/MD). When I saw it, was gonna snap a few shots and post (but totally forgot).

Hi KarlC,

What are those things (remember seeing them being sold from some guy from Thailand on ebay; could never quite figure out where they go?). Do you have pics of them installed?

Those are whats know as Portawalls, they are Rubber Whitewalls for adding Whitewalls to any tire you would like. I have used them them in the past, they work great, I plan on using them in 16" for my light weight CLK wheels an modding a Mercedes hubcap to fit the wheel for a classic look in 16".

Portawalls- just googled them...cool

Every time I think of whitewalling mine, people always tell me to buy them from "Coker" tires (pricey). Then I think "what if they look bad". So...I found 4 tires at pep boys with a white line on sale for 80 bucks each (buy 3 get one free). Look great! Never knew there was a third option.

Post pics when you install them; curious how they turn out.

Do you mean something else?

I'm 6' 4" and my 71 250 C did not have "lowered seats" and the car had plenty of headroom. However your car has a sunroof and I wonder if cars with sunroofs also have lowered front seats as the sunroof probably eats up between 1 and 2 inches of headroom...

The front seats are different than those of a sedan because they tilt forward to allow access to rear seat. And they have a vacuum lock (that seldom works) to prevent the seat back from folding forward while the vehicle is running with doors closed.

Here's a funny thing.....

Ever since I got the car I wished it had a bit more head room, even tho my car has the 275 option of the lowered seats. So I took a look under the seat to see what could be done and I found that someone had done a raised drivers seat mod to the lowered seat LOL. I removed the blocks and gained an inch of head room !

I will be custom fitting MB dog dish hubcaps to light weight MB CLK 16" alloy wheels.

Its NOT a direct fit, the CLK wheels are not made to be used with hubcaps.

My car had some wooden blocks under the seats as well. Became much more comfortable once they were removed.
