I'm going to have to remember this. I have rebuilt a number of these antennas and they do take some concentration. I also like to put the old points file to the contact points inside the case.

But this thing.... This is nice. I don't enter contests. I just do the daily driver thing. This looks like it is more than adequate for the job it has to do.

Plus original 1972 antennas, in contest condition, are going for about $300.

Idle - I messed mine up by filing the points. Do you reset the gap? If so, what is the spec? I have to get out and use a screwdriver to breech the points to make it go down now when I turn the engine off. Maddening.

Hey optimusprime, thaks for all the info. Since I don't have an original Hirschman, it's not worth repairing. I rather pay the $40 and get a new one

I'll post pics when I replace it!
