115 side door window channel question
I don't have a picture I can post now but you know the windown channel in the side door that the window glass slides up/down in? The felt material with the groove, PN 115 725 09 25. Looks like NLA according to Pelican but I ordered some from Alemania that was just bulk, 1 meter in a shapeless roll.
The EPC shows the window channel as conforming to the shape of the door exactly, and the original material is shaped accordingly. Haven't tried to work with it yet but do you just bend and press the new, bulk material into place? Or has anyone ordered some actual pre-shaped channel from MB lately? Thanks

You've got to work with the material to get it to fit the doorframe.
I nipped mine in the corners (but not completely through the channel) to allow it to conform to the window corners without the channel material pooching outwards. ![]() |

Roger that. That looks like an older fin manual or something. I didn't think to look in mine.
Thanks

JMela,
I got everything out including the window glass. I knew the new window channel run material was shorter, but now I know it's about 8" shorter. Do you recommend cheating it on 4" each side or buying another run and cutting/adding the remaining amount? Did you glue your channel on the vertical sides like it says? Old one didn't seem glued at all. Also, please see attached, sorry it's blurry but remove/replace the rubber that is the junction to window glass and regulator guide, is it a matter of lubing it up and sliding off or do you think I'm just going to shatter that old glass? It's on there pretty tight. I have everything out and now would be the time to do it but you know. . .

I glued my vertical sections in place, I didn't fully trust the clips (with the toothed tabs) to hold things in place.
Although it wouldn't come into play unless the windows were fully down, I don't think cheating on material would be beneficial in the long run. Bummer they didn't send you enough to work with. Re: junction rubber, I didn't mess with mine (out of laziness). Is it a crimped/ friction fit or is there hardware holding everything in place? I'd guess the glass would be ok unless you really gorilla'd it around. Not that you asked, but I used a bolt cutter to trim my channel cleanly. |

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to leave that window bottom edge piece alone. It may be a combination friction crimp and glue fit. The existing looks fine so I'd probably have to gorilla it out of there.
I guess we'll see what happens with the channel. Where i got it wasn't terribly expensive so if i have to redo it won't sink the project.
