tacho drive

i have this lovely old 190sl/R12/040 with a m121921 eng,in the shop it has a oil leak fron the tacho cable,,question is where would the seal be in the tacho drive unit,is it servicable or replace the angle drive if still available.

There is a company called Vintage Euro Parts that has the drive new for $375 or so. Just Google them and see what comes up. Then you can determine if it is the part you are looking for.

There are some tachometer drives out there that are newly manufactured in Poland as a lower cost alterative to the original equipment VDO German part.

Businesses in Poland are producing soft top frames and intake plenums for 121 cars as well

also another problem with this car is hard starting hot,cold start ok,have overhauled carbys[twin throat solex] idles 1400rpm like a swiss clock,now there is a cable to the carbys i am led to believe is a hot start system,the cable actuates levers that open the second butterfly,can someone give me a repord on what and how this works thanks,

Not in anyway to blow you off but if you're looking for detailed stuff like that your best bet would be the "190slgroup" online forum

Home

Those guys live and breath the 121 stuff, and there are numerous variations across the model years so they are pretty knowledgeable about any specific differences that might impact getting things straightened out right the first go round.
