w108 Power windows issues and Auxiliary Fan issue

I'm almost done bringing the w108 back to life. It's been many years since it rolled on the road.

Its a 72 280se 2.6l. Both of these were not an issue a week ago as I was doing engine work, but now are. I've been doing quite a bit of work on it lately, but minimal electrical. I did reconnect the horn wires, but not much else electrical.

Issue 1:
The aux fan now runs whenever the key is in the accessory position. I turned the AC off, as I think that may enable the aux fan. Also, I thought I read that there was a safety shut off on the hood (maybe not) but it runs if the hood is up or down. A fuse issue would stop it from running, so maybe a short, but where?

Issue 2:
The power windows were working a week ago- but now, none work. No clicking, nothing. I checked the fuses (both under dash and hood) and all fuses seemed ok and I moved and cleaned each. I'm not sure which of the 3 or so boxes under the hood correspond the to windows but they all seemed fine. Open to ideas here. I could disconnect the battery, pull the switch and try to run 12v through the switch wires (not sure which wire colors to connect to +/-). I hope there is an easier solution/test.

I did a search but didn't find anything.
thanks,
dan

Any ideas on what would make the aux fan run constantly or make all power windows suddenly stop working other than a fuse?

Thanks.

Whenever one has electrical problems it is a good idea to return to a point in time when things were working and go forth from there. May I suggest you remove whatever connections you made for the horns as you may have unintentionally created a short circuit. Once those wires are free, check the fuses very carefully - not just a quick look, remove each one and remove any corrosion on the ends before replacing.
