Dolly - Finally My Finny - The Journey Continues

OK I decided to start a new thread , she is such a proper gal, that it is only fitting she be documented by each owner. Jeff has brought her to a great level and now its my turn to move her forward. She arrived today , making it through the many storms from Texas to KY on the back of a car hauler. I promptly drove her 15 miles and by the time I got back the grin on my face was enough to block the sun from my eyes. She is certainly not perfect and needs work, but I cant wait to get started. I know she will be a stunner when she is done

Congratulations! You are the owner of a Hero's car!

Have you looked at all the interesting decals the original owner put on? The car is a true survivor and gracefully shows its 54 years.

advice for the steering coupling R/R. Dolly has one bolt left of the three, I doubt I can just put in bushings, she looks pretty wallowed out . I did this on my W107 from the passenger compartment access but this seems different , should I just drop the steering box? It is leaking and may be time to reseal ? Not really wanting to rebuild the unit , ideas?

What's the condition of the other side of the car's steering system like?

surprisingly good, looks like the tie rods, and trailing arms are in good shape, all without play. Steering damper was toast so it will be replaced . Ive drained the steering box and will refill with 8 ounces of 90 W oil as the book says. may also consider new seals in it if I can find the right way to do it, or I may try to find a "seal conditioner to stop the leak. Its not at all like the box of my 107

decided to go back to mechanical fuel pump in my quest to get Dolly back to original as possible. sourced the pump here, thought it was the wrong one but realized with Jeff's help that the mount had to come off the block from the old style pump. A little plumbing work taking 1/4 to 5/16 lines but all in all looks pretty good , and best of all works !

good last few days , changed out motor mounts ( note to self , invite a friend to help) steering damper, set valves, points , new wires , plugs , cleaned up air filter and did some POR 15 over some sanded rust areas..
One issue , plug number 3 will not go in all the way, goes in about 3/4 but thats it , screws in fine and is tight at that point , but not in all the way , may try to clean out threads or may just leave well enough alone, not sure - gonna think about it
obviously it was running this way , or at least I think it was this way
Picts of the day , check out the collapsed mount
