As far as circuit diagrams.....even if I had them I probably couldn't read them. It shouldn't be too hard with only three wires.....should it?

What is this dial, scale thing at the base of the distributor? Looks like it has a movable pointer of some sort on it.

that is indeed a gizmo that allows you to adjust the timing a few degrees forward or after while on the road , to avoid knocking. In the owner manual it talks about using it when needed , evidently to compensate for temperature, altitude and poor octane gas ...back in the day

Looking a the pics of your new relay, I'd guess that red is hot, black is ground, and the blue one is switched. I bet you could dig around on line and find what those terminal designations mean for sure. And you could consult the wiring diagram for your car to get an idea of how to match them up, i.e. what's hot, how it's grounded, which lead is the switched one.

The "on the fly" timing adjuster is cool!

I should have pointed out that the wires I added, they are just arbitrarily stuck on there. No particular order. All I have is the L, X and P to go by.

I can probably determine which is hot and ground with my test light can't I? Then the last one would be signal.

Water pump oil level?

It came to my attention yesterday, while looking at my owners manual, that I have an oil level to maintain in my water pump, that was news to me! Makes sense and its not a problem, I had just never seen such before. Funny cars these Fintails...

Huh?

Can you post the page that says to lubicate water pump? I have to admit that I didn't know that.

That's a good point. The water pump diagram in the manual shows a bolt on top and one on the side. Top to fill and side for level. On the water pumps I see online I don't notice the bolts. Modern pumps are probably self lubricated or are lubricated by the coolant. I'll post it anyway when I find it.

interesting, I dont see that on Dolly , Jeff when you put the one on Dolly , did it appear to need lubrication ( other than from coolant)?

like to see a picture of the pump type. Is that the type you have?

I will check Ron and post a pic.

Owners manual also says these were designed to run on 96-99 Octane. Ha ha, where am I going to find that? Do you guys find that 93 octane premium is sufficient or do you add an octane booster? What about lead additives? Aren't our valve seats hardened so lead isn't necessary? Thanks to all for your input

Water pump

The pic of my water pump, I don't see any bolts through which to add oil, however they could be hiding behind the pulley. This was the best angle I could get.
