When you reassemble, read up on the torque specs for those bolts. Both my SL and SDL had torque specs of 10nm which I'd classify as "snug". Unless the bolts were rusty hulks, there's no possible way to shear them off at 10nm.

Sorry to hear about the broken screw, but I think in the end you will be much better off by using an easy-out on it and replacing all screws. Sooner or later you will have problems it left the way it is. BTW, Laso, a German brand, provides new screws with their water pumps. I don't know about other brands.
