W114 Rocker Panel Replacement Supplier

Rust has completely eaten away my rockers on both sides. It has eaten into the inside section of the B-Pillar on the driver side and will be gnarly to mess with. Anyway, I was looking online and see that they have replacement rockers but was wondering about quality, fitment, and gauge thickness. Anyone bought any that met MB standards relating to the rockers?

Thanks!

No one bought any rocker panels?

Bought one from the Mercedes dealer many years ago for a W110 but haven't installed it yet. I would suspect that it would fit perfectly as it looks very good. Recently bought some aftermarket ones for a Ford off of Ebay, which the company also sold through their website, and I am not very satisfied as they are not formed exactly right. It is pretty much a crap shoot with aftermarket panels. My body guy says he only buys panels that have been certified for fit and finish, and approved for use by insurance companies. So look for any certifications. You can't go wrong with original OEM parts from the Mercedes dealer if you can get them and can afford them. But sometimes you have no choice and just have to get what is available and make it work.

What companies have you been looking at? Maybe others on the board can give you opinions on other parts they have bought from those companies which would give you an indication of their quality in general.

KCM,

I have looked K&K Maanufacturing (some people here complain about them), Ecklers (doesn't even show as being able to get MB parts..I found some on here that bought parts from them while researching old threads before i asked), Rock Auto, and Niemoller (German supplier). AND of course...Ebay.

I have not called MB Classic as i may have a heart attack but ultimately i may have to go there as i should get the corrosion resistance and material thickness that my MB has...right?

There is a problem with the inside B-pillar too. So some fabrication on the body is going be required in that area.

K&K is one of the big ones for Mercedes sheet metal. Parts from the Mercedes dealer or the Classic Center are definitely going to meet Mercedes quality specifications. 15 years ago parts from the Mercedes dealer were actually quite reasonable in price, but those times are gone unfortunately. But at least they do try to support the vintage cars unlike most other manufacturers. There was a company called Sherman Parts that sold body parts. Got some W123 parts there one time. Can't find their site on the web anymore (probably got bought out by somebody else) but do see that have a Facebook page with a phone number.

I bought wheel arches from them for my 76 280C which are currently being surgically installed....so far so good.

Tomas,

I'll check into it. I asked MB Classic Center and they said they can't get them and they suggested i use K & K Manufacturing.
