w114 brake reservoir

My brake warning light stays on all the time. It seems like the bottom of the rear float has broken off or has slipped off. the float pin pulls right out. Is there any way to get inside the reservoir without breaking the plastic lip?

They just lift out , might be tight /stuck in their but should just wiggle out from the top .
And yes the float drops off many times or becomes damaged . I just grab one from salvage when I see them . IE : the Black Part come up from the reservoir on all I have removed

BTW, those white plastic caps with the hex head center are nearly impossible to get. If you see one at salvage, get it.

reservoir float

Thanks.
I got it out ok. Is the float supposed to be hollow and air filled? It's filled with fluid and seems to be held in place by a rubber bullet shaped piece with a hole in it. It immediately fell back off. Is it due to the weight of the filled float or just an ancient rubber piece? I don't want to pry out the other black part for fear pulling off the other float.

I thought so. Found a float and pin on ebay, now I wait another week for it to come in.
