1987 420SEL fuel problem
I have a problem with my 420SEL dying at stop lights or slow turns. Only happens on slight uphill slopes as far as I can tell. Engine runs fine, then it acts like it's being starved of gas when I try to accelerate away. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I plan on getting new fuel pumps

Assuming your cold , warm and rest pressures are correct and the in tank and line fuel filters are clean - id also check your airflow sensor plate and control plunger , if it binds or sticks it will cause a stumble or worse case stall

I would suggest you obtain a copy of How to Tune and Modify a BOSCH Fuel Injection , by Ben Watson .
It will help you understand the Kjet system that you have on that car. The system is very interdependent on many factors to run properly

what meltedpanda just said was " go slow, break one thing at a time" with the system. Lest you find yourself with a very dead car and no means of backing up and starting over.
Changing parts is pretty straight forward. Diagnosing the problem and adjusting or replacing the right thing is where time, experience and good discipline matter. -CTH |

As has already been suggested you will get better help on the W126 forum.
