Sudrad Wheel

I'm curious what model this was used on? I assume the lip was for the hub cap before the pins? Anyone ever modify these to accept the standard hub cap?

upper left corner shows 12/58 as the manufacturing date.

That's either a ponton or something more interesting.

Leave it it intact, they are not easy to find.

Wheel is marked 4.5K x 15 making it fairly narrow. Early (1954) 300 SL bolt-on wheels had a similar raised rim to mount the hubcap, but this feature was discontinued on the SL wheel long before the 12/58 date of manufacture. If we are certain that this wheel came from a Mercedes-Benz, I suggest it was either a W136 Typ 170S or a W187 Typ 220.

I'm personally NOT confident it came from a Benz, though it is identified as such by the seller.

15” is very tall for the era, wouldn’t you say? Lots of 13” wheels back then I think.

What would be needed for an Adenaur? Again, 4" seems a bit narrow.

I don't think it's a Mercedes wheel. It looks exactly like the wheels on my 1957 Borgward except for the diameter. That's the way Borgward hubcaps were held on. Borgward truck?
