250se fuel filter housing bolt

I have a fuel filter canister housing for a 108 250se but I have lost the bolt that holds the bottom to the top. This is the big one that goes into the top and screws into the housing container.

Anyone know the correct sized bolt for this?

I have that same engine in my Coupe, but I don't know the size. Any chance you can take the canister portion to the local hardware store and test fit some metric bolts to see what fits. I think it's 8mm x 1.25pitch, with a copper washer at the top to seal the top of the housing against the bolt head. Maybe you can find a bolt that's long enough, or if too long, can be cut down (thread a nut onto the bolt, cut off the amount you need removed, and then spin off the nut in order to clean up the end threads. Dress the end with a wire wheel on a bench grinder).

Eight mm sounds about right. I can take the can in to Fasenall and start with that.

Perfect. Or if you have a good hardware store, like an Ace or TruValue, they probably have bins of really nice metric fasteners and copper sealing washers.

Here's one taken apart on ebay, for reference. The bolt doesn't actually look very long.

I'm going to give True Value a shot. The one near me has a large section of all sorts of weird stuff and they don't mind you sorting through it if you need something off beat.

I might upgrade to stainless if they have it.

I'm lucky enough to have an excellent Ace Hardware about 2 blocks away. They have an entire room dedicated to every manner of fastener and doo-dad. All sorts of solutions in that place. Love it there!

I finally found one at Ace. It's a 8 mm x 1.25 60mm in length. You could also use 65mm.
